Warby Parker

For todays Wednesday Wants (more like needs actually) I am highlighting the company Warby Parker for their most excellent selection of all nerdy eye-glass wear AND for their humanitarian efforts in donating a pair of glasses for every pair purchased.

I recently lost my very cool, very expensive Dita glasses and am in DIRE need of a replacement.

Here are the Dita's I had:

Now don't get me wrong, I loved these glasses. However, the bridge (nose part connecting the two lenses (only providing a definition because I myself did not know what this "nose part" was called)) did have the tendency of creating an illusion of a unibrow, too make me look like this:

NOTE: paintings/drawings of Frida greatly exaggerate her UNI in case you were wondering. Her real uni isn't that bad.

In any event, I was more going for this look:

Which brings me to my current dilemma, my want/need of similar looking rims, but my desire to not resemble Frida, and Warby Parker has just the pair. The only problem is that there are just too many to choose from. Here are some of my fave's.

The Ainsworth:

The Preston:

The Mallory:

The Beckett:

Thoughts/Opinions? Please share. Oh wait, no one is following me. A girl can dream.

P.S. Just came across this pic of Ally Hilfiger while looking for cool celebs in eye-glasses (remember her from that MTV show?) and am slightly put-off by how much we look like. My friends will appreciate this (friends, where are you??).

Tuesday Museday

For this weeks Muse, I bring you none other than Maria Elena. No further explanation necessary.

Even when she is supposed to look wretched, she is absolutely beautiful.

Monday Madness

If your feeling like I'm feeling then go and brush your shoulders off....

Sorry for the Jay Z, but on this monday morning, well not morning anymore, afternoon really, (to be honest it's close to 5 pm and I still feel like its the morning) I am feeling slightly frenzied. I could use a little brush off my shoulders.

So if your feeling like I'm feeling (overkill?), and your life, surroundings, etc. are looking like this:

My very first step is to get organized. Here are some tips that I recommend for at least giving off the appearance of a slightly more organized life.

1. Make lists. It feels great when you get to cross things off.

2. Color-code your calendar (slightly aggressive, but looks pretty).

3. Use Trays (easiest organizational tool ever!)

4. Group like items together in cups and/or trinkets

5. When all else fails, use a basket to throw everything in

Good luck, and May the force be with you.

Happy Purim!

Now I know most of you reading this are not Jewish, as we are such a teeny microscopic portion of the world, but tomorrow is Purim, our Jewish Halloween.

HA, who am I kidding.  First, there is NO ONE reading this. Second, anyone who is reading this is most likely my friend, who feels sorry for me, yet still refuses to follow me, and well, lets face it, most of my friends are Jewish.

Anyway..........In honor of Purim, I'd like to post some very awesome pictures of outfits that could easily pass as Halloween/Purim costumes, ya know, just in case you are interested in supporting us Jews, but would rather not want anyone to know. I would (like totally) wear any one of these outfits on any given day.  To be honest, I recently was at an art gallery in overalls and a blue velvet head piece, and I must have gotten props for dressing as Rosie the Riveter at least five times that night.  And that was definitely unintentional. I was just having some really greasy hair and recently acquired the awesome overalls.

Enjoy.

A nice little Cher Horowitz imitation for ya....

Alright, so that was probably the only outfit I wouldn't sport in my regular wardrobe.

And finally for your viewing pleasure, ME... inspired by: Rosie the Riveter.

Enjoy the weekend and Happy Purim.

Wednesday Wants

As I admitted in my first post, I am, sometimes to my displeasure (at my constant desire to always want and "need" things, rather than being a creator or innovator) an avid consumer. Instead of shaming myself, I will look at the present this shadow of mine has brought to the surface: my interest, which  turns into my unrelenting search, to find awesome products.

While at the New York International Gift Show (NYIGF) last month I came across the company Tabula Rasa.

Tabula Rasa features incredible blankets/throws and pillows created by the designer responsible for the sweaters at Rag and Bone. If that isn't enough to instinctively make you want to buy her line, I literally melted under the touch of the fabric. So soft and luxurious! Damn me for living in Miami and rarely having the opportunity or need for a blanket or throw.  But that only stalled me for about five seconds...

I am also a huge fan of the companies name. Tabula Rasa.  Tabula Rasa, if you don't know because you never studied philosophy or paid attention in school at all, means "blank slate." The designer believes that personal style should and can be expressed outside clothing and live in the space in which we inhabit.

On this Wednesday Wants, I welcome you to share in the desire to acquire one, two, or the whole line for that matter, the awesomeness that is Tabula Rasa. Enjoy.
